That little lake is near town and I am about 13 miles west of that and then 8 miles up dirt road so a little over 20 miles but then it’s 3 miles further just to get the mail, so I make the trip 2 -3 times a week no matter what
Well it seems like a nice place for contemplation looking in the direction of the photos but in reality if I turned around the road is about 50 feet away and it is highway 160 the busiest road through the area I just happned to catch it at a quiet appearing moment. I rarely take photos in that particular spot because it is right in the middle of town and the only place to stop is in the hotel parking lot. Although sometimes there are swans in the lake during the day and i’ll stop to see what they are up to. I prefer to head up ther dirt roads and spend the day away from town.
I think there are lots of shots on the blog that reflect more mood than scenery especiacially in when I do a bunch of macro stuff. Or there was one day I went down the road early in the winter and the mountains were in and out of the clouds and the play of the light was interesting but definently not good for a sceninc shot and I got some cool moody shots that I really like but are probably not all that interesting to other people. They are on the blog somewhere. I can’t say that I can really separate my mood much from what I am shooting because what captures my eye at any given moment refects how I am feeling.
When I head up to the upper piedra for example I know I am looking for big wide mountain vistas because that is what I am in the mood to see that day which is why I decide to head up there
i like to think the colors are stirring your thoughts, begging you to visit them again and again. The tranquility of the evening seduces awareness to the stillness of the water surface reflecting the evening sun. you drive home in a peaceful mood.
Nice collection of sunset shots. Do you have to go far for this vista?

It looks like a nice spot for a bit of contemplation. Have you tried to get shot that reflects your mood rather than a scenic?
