Raptors and Ducks

Well I may have mentioned before that my little compact camera is not really made for capturing big birds or anything that requires fast focus and long focal length, but I just can’t help myself, I have to try anyway
Someday I’ll have a camera that is made for taking these kind of photos, even though I know the results will be less than stellar it is still fun to attempt to capture these beauties.
We had a bunch of buzzards hanging around last Friday and one perched in the tree across the street, while two or three other flew around. At one point two were in the tree but one was kind of hidden behind the trunk.
This Osprey took me by surprise later in the day. We don’t have a lot of Osprey visit the area. When I lived up in the Flathead in Montana there were tons of Osprey with Flathead lake and all the rivers and they would nest right next to the road on power poles just north of the lake. I haven’t seen one in a long time.
Then out of nowhere came a Bald Eagle he was at a quite a distance in fact the light was such that I wasn’t certain it was a Bald Eagle until I got to full zoom with the camera and could catch the white.
Then as driving away a hawk flew right over
I noticed some ducks hanging around this little guy sure has a red beak ![]()

i’m glad you take photos like these - it shares the moment well.
