Kebler Pass is a dirt pass of about 30 – 35 miles or so that leaves Crested Butte and ends up connecting with highway 133 about 15 miles out of Paonia. I used to live in Paonia in 92-94 so I have been over this pass before but going the other direction in the fall. It’s said to be one of the most beautiful fall color drives in Colorado and I have to agree. At that point though people were not talking about fall colors on the Internet and there was only maybe two other cars for the whole drive I imagine now that the word is out there is lots of fall traffic!
This is just out of Crested Butte
Here is where you start heading down crested Butte is somewhere around the 8000 mark or more and kebler pass is 9980, Paonia is around 6000 feet so its mostly downhill from Crested Butte once you reach the pass which is not far.

You can’t tell from this photo but the road goes through some real old aspen forests probably some of the biggest aspen trunks I’ve seen
